Plant Secondary Metabolite Biosynthesis and Transcriptional Regulation in Response to Biotic and Abiotic Stress Conditions

چکیده

Plant secondary metabolites (SMs) play important roles in plant survival and creating ecological connections between other species. In addition to providing a variety of valuable natural products, help protect plants against pathogenic attacks environmental stresses. Given their sessile nature, must themselves from such situations through accumulation these bioactive compounds. Indeed, act as herbivore deterrents, barriers pathogen invasion, mitigators oxidative stress. The SMs are highly dependent on factors light, temperature, soil water, fertility, salinity. For most plants, change an individual factor can alter the content even if remain constant. this review, we focus how affect during both biotic abiotic stress conditions. Furthermore, discuss application elicitors culture systems well stimulating effects metabolites. Specifically, shikimate pathway aromatic amino acids produced pathway, which precursors range including terpenoids, alkaloids, sulfur- nitrogen-containing We also detail biosynthesis is altered by several genes related metabolite pathways. Genes responsible for various species conditions regulated transcriptional WRKY, MYB, AP2/ERF, bZIP, bHLH, NAC, discussed here.

Toward Unveiling the Mechanisms for Transcriptional Regulation of Proline Biosynthesis in the Plant Cell Response to Biotic and Abiotic Stress Conditions

Proline accumulation occurs in plants following the exposure to a wide array of stress conditions, as well as during numerous physiological and adaptive processes. Increasing evidence also supports the involvement of proline metabolism in the plant response to pathogen attack. This requires that the biosynthetic pathway is triggered by components of numerous and different signal transduction ch...

Abiotic and biotic elicitors’ effects on secondary metabolites biosynthesis of periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus (Linn.) G. Don)

Based on recent statistical survey, the cancer is the third important factor in Iran mortality. Vinblastine and vincristine alkaloids are dominantly biosynthesized in the aerial parts of periwinkle, broadly applied for cancer treatment. Therefore, over production of these alkaloids by using the biotechnological approaches is inevitable. Since the terpenoid indole alkaloids (TIAS) biosynthesis p...

Plant Responses to Simultaneous Biotic and Abiotic Stress: Molecular Mechanisms.

Plants are constantly confronted to both abiotic and biotic stresses that seriously reduce their productivity. Plant responses to these stresses are complex and involve numerous physiological, molecular, and cellular adaptations. Recent evidence shows that a combination of abiotic and biotic stress can have a positive effect on plant performance by reducing the susceptibility to biotic stress. ...

Predisposition in plant disease: exploiting the nexus in abiotic and biotic stress perception and response.

Predisposition results from abiotic stresses occurring prior to infection that affect susceptibility of plants to disease. The environment is seldom optimal for plant growth, and even mild, episodic stresses can predispose plants to inoculum levels they would otherwise resist. Plant responses that are adaptive in the short term may conflict with those for resisting pathogens. Abiotic and biotic...

Abiotic and Biotic Stress Response Crosstalk in Plants

In the course of its evolution, plants have developed mechanisms to cope with and adapt to different types of abiotic and biotic stress imposed by the frequently adverse environment. The biology of a cell or cells in tissues is so complicated that with any given stimulus from the environment, multiple pathways of cellular signaling that have complex interactions or crosstalk are activated; thes...
